Nature Publishing Group and the Japan Society of Human Genetics (JSHG) are launching Human Genome Variation. This online open-access journal is a sister title to the Journal of Human Genetics.

Human Genome Variation promises to publish original research articles, summaries, reviews and data reports. It is intended to provide a forum for scientists working in human genetics, variation and mutation to publish their discoveries, results, analysis and insights. It will provide a place to publish reports of newly discovered human disease causative mutations, as well as quality articles and reviews in various topics of human genetics studies. A database collecting new mutations information and presented with different search options will also be developed as part of this journal.

Published research articles will be freely accessible online to a global audience immediately on publication. An article-processing charge (APC) is levied on acceptance, and authors are offered a choice of Creative Commons Licences, including the CC-BY licence, say the partners.
